EC PROGRAMME: HORIZON 2020 – Pillar Excellent Science – European Research Council (ERC)  link

The European Research Council (ERC) funds excellent researchers (Principal Investigators), with excellent curricula, from any nationality and age wishing to carry out research activities in theMember States of European Union [1]or in the Associated Countries[2].

ERC enhances:

  • Long term funding for High Risk – High Gain research projects;
  • in any field with a “bottom-up” frontier research approach, without any priority but only based on scientific excellence;
  • Breakthrough research helping to bring new and unpredictable scientific and technologies. Applied research is not a requirement.

ERC calls are published on H2020 programme Participant Portal, according online manual H2020. The ERC frontier research grants are available under the Work Programme WP 2019:

ERC covers:

  • 100% funding of total eligible direct and approved costs.
  • 25% Flat-rate of total eligible costs.
