EU and EEA students  are guaranteed health services under the same conditions as Italian citizens, paying any tickets and benefiting from the same free services. The costs of treatment will be covered by students home country’s health authorities.

For non-EU students health insurance coverage is required in order to obtain your visa and your residence permit in Italy. International students can purchase a private health insurance policy or register to the Italian National Health Service  (Servizio Sanitario Nazionale – SSN) and get a family doctor.

Starting from 2024, the registration fee for SSN costs € 700,00, and is valid for the solar year  (01/01-31/12) . This means that if you buy it before 01/01/2024, you will pay the full price for a shorter term of coverage and you will have to pay again for the period starting 01/01/2024.
