Application and admission

All international students may enrol in one of the 1st and 2nd cycle programmes of the Italian University System. To be eligible for enrolment in the Italian University system, (Bachelor’s level) students must be at least 17 years old and have completed 12 years of schooling.

At UniME students are allowed to submit applications for two different programmes. Please, choose the programmes according to your previous studies and review the admission requirements before submitting your application.

Pre-evaluation applications for the A. Y. 2024/2025:

Programmes taught in English: Applications on UniME Applicant Portal

  • 1st Call for non-EU students: Applications for Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree Programmes: from February 1, 2024 (00:01 am CET) to February 21, 2024 (11:59 pm CET).

     

  • 2nd Call for non-EU students: Applications for Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree Programmes: from March 22, 2024 (00:01 am CET) to May 3, 2024 (11:59 pm CET).

     

  • 3rd Call for EU students and non-EU students residing in Italy applying for Bachelor's Degree and Master's Degree Programmes and international applicants of all categories applying for Single Cycle Degree in Medicine and Surgery: from May 27, 2024 (00:01 am CET) to June 30, 2024 (11:59 pm CET).

In the following sections are listed the procedures to apply for evaluation prior to the enrolment in the Degree Programmes taught in English and Italian.

Degree programmes taught in English

For the Degree programmes taught in English, you must first submit your application for evaluation on the Unime Applicant Portal. Only if your application is positively evaluated, you will receive an admission letter with all the instructions to register at the Universitaly portal and go forward with the visa procedure.

Deadline for Universitaly Applications: September 1, 2024 (exept for Single-Cycle Degree in Medicine and Surgery).

Students are required to upload an International English Language Certificate (CEFR - B2 level) issued by a recognised Institution in the language section of the application, unless they belong to one of the categories exempt from the International Language Certificate.

Register at Unime Applicant Portal and submit the required documents listed below to receive an evaluation of your profile:

  • High school diploma obtained after 12 years of education. If you do not have your diploma yet, you can upload an official provisional certificate issued by your School (Course Completion Certificate). If your High school diploma is less than 12 years, you can submit: either a) an academic certificate stating that you have passed all the required exams of the first year of University studies; or b) certificate from any Italian University regarding the successful completion of a Foundation Programme.
  • University Entrance Exam Certificate, if required by the national education system (see the list of required documents for each Country) 
  • Transcript of records.
  • Copy of a valid passport.
  • English proficiency certificate: see the dedicated page.

If your application is positively evaluated, you will receive an admission letter with all the instructions to register at the Universitaly portal and go forward with the visa procedure.
 

UniME will confirm your acceptance on the Universitaly Portal only if the abovementioned documents are valid and correctly uploaded. This will begin the visa application process.

The Italian Diplomatic Authorities of your country will inform you of visa approval. Please bear in mind once you applied it is no longer necessary to contact us about the visa. You can access the Universitaly portal and check your request status.

The Single Cycle Degree / Combined Bachelor and Master in Medicine and Surgery is a restricted access programme a with entrance exam. The number of available places will be published in the Call for admission. The admission test is generally held in the month of September/October. Further information will be available upon publication of the Call for admission by the Italian Ministry of Education.

Register at Unime Applicant Portal and submit the required documents listed below to receive an evaluation of your profile:

  • High School Diploma obtained after 12 years of education. If you do not have your diploma yet, you can upload an official provisional certificate issued by your School (Course Completion Certificate). If your High school diploma is less than 12 years, you can submit: either a) an academic certificate stating that you have passed all the required exams of the first year of University studies; or b) certificate from any Italian University regarding the successful completion of a Foundation Programme.
  • Transcript of records.

Register at the Universitaly portal www.universitaly.it and follow the pre-enrolment procedure stated above (see Bachelor’s Degrees).

Register for the admission test. Enrolment is contingent on passing the admission test. Further information will be available upon publication of the Call for admission by the Italian Ministry of Education.

The Italian Diplomatic Authorities of your country will inform you of visa approval. Please bear in mind: once you applied, it is no longer necessary to contact us about the visa. You can access the Universitaly portal and check your request status.

Students who do not classify in the ranking for admission with respect to the number of places reserved for them may, after the publication of the places still available, enrol to another degree programme only if they have a UniME admission letter.

Please choose the programmes according to your previous studies and review the admission requirements before submitting your application. Check the entry requirements for the chosen Degree Programme under the section 'Study with us'. 

Register at Unime Applicant Portal and submit the required documents listed below to receive an evaluation of your profile:

  1. High School Diploma obtained after at least 12 years of study.
  2. Bachelor’s Degree diploma; if you don’t have your Bachelor’s Degree yet, you can send an official provisional certificate issued by your University. In any case the candidate must show at least 15 years of education.
  3. Transcript of records (exams taken in the previous degree programme).
  4. Copy of a valid passport.
  5. English proficiency certificate: see the dedicated page

Applications will be assessed by a Departmental Commission assigned to evaluate candidates’ previous qualifications considering the entry requirements of the selected course.

Degree Programmes taught in Italian

For the Degree programmes taught in Italian, students must send their application for evaluation to studiainitaliano@unime.it  

For the admission requirements of the different programme types and programmes, please see the section below and the web pages of the selected courses.

Only if your profile is positively evaluated, you will receive a communication with all the instructions to register at the Universitaly portal and go forward with the visa procedure. Deadline for Universitaly Applications: September 1, 2024.

Non-EU students have to pass the CISIA ITA-L2 Test unless:

  1. They hold an Italian language competence certificate corresponding at least to level B2 as determined by the Council of Europe, issued within the CLIQ system (Certificazione Lingua Italiana di Qualità) by the University of Rome III, the University for Foreigners in Perugia or Siena, or the 'Dante Alighieri' Society, or in agreement with Italian cultural institutions abroad or other institutions.
  2. They have an Italian High School Diploma (obtained in Italy or abroad).
  3. They have a supplementary Middle School Diploma obtained in Argentina, confirming attendance in an Italian-language curriculum for at least 5 years.

Please always use your own email address to avoid confusion, and the same email address for the Unime Applicant Portal and the Universitaly portal. The documents you need to attach must be in English or translated into Italian by the Italian Diplomatic/Consular representation abroad.
