QS Subject Rankings 2026: UniME ranks in the Global Top 350 for Agriculture & Forestry and records progress in Chemistry

The QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026 have now been published. The University of Messina has achieved a new result with the entry of Agriculture & Forestry, ranked between #301 and #350 worldwide. Additionally, compared to last year, the Chemistry subject area has improved significantly, rising 50 places to reach the #501–550 band.

UniME also confirms strong performance in the medical sciences, ranking among the top 400 universities worldwide for Pharmacy & Pharmacology and among the top 700 for Medicine.

Globally, it is estimated that around 20,000 universities exist. Of these, approximately 7,000 institutions were analysed for the QS subject rankings, and about 1,500 achieved publication in at least one discipline. The subjects are grouped into five broad fields—Arts & Humanities, Engineering & Technology, Life Sciences & Medicine, Natural Sciences, and Social Sciences & Management—which are further divided into 55 specific areas.
