The TOLC entrance test allows students to successfully undertake university studies by assessing the aptitude and level of basic knowledge acquired before enrolment, in relation to the chosen Degree Course.
The test is mandatory for students enrolling at the university for the first time but does not in any way condition enrolment. In fact, it is possible to enrol even before taking the test, which will be carried out exclusively by means of the TOLC test (short for ‘Test OnLine CISIA" test’).
The structure (number of questions, topics, and time available) of the various types of TOLC differs according to the chosen study pathway.
For more information on the types of TOLC tests, you can consult the TOLC dedicated section on the CISIA website at the link CISIA - TOLC Area
Students who do not pass the test are assigned a formative requirement in their initial preparation, known as 'OFA requirements', to be recovered within the first year of the course.
The deadlines for the OFA requirement recovery are set according to the following schedule:
- 30 September 2024, for students enrolled in A.Y. 2023/24.
- 30 September 2025, for students enrolling in A.Y. 2024/25.
If the test is not taken by the given deadlines, or in the event of failure to comply with the indications provided to recover the OFA requirement by the aforementioned deadlines, students will not be allowed to take the exams of the years following the first, and will be re-enrolled in the first year as a ‘repeater’ (until he/she regularises his/her position with regard to the obligation to undergo the entrance test, as well as the recovery of any OFA requirement).
For detailed information on how to test the entrance basic knowledge, it is possible to consult the summary table of the TOLC assessment for the A.Y. in which students are enrolled in the first course year (documents available below) and visit the specific pages of the chosen Degree Course.
