Verification of OFA Fulfillment

Have you not taken the admissions test or TOLC yet? If not, you cannot take the OFA verification test; you must first take the basic knowledge test. You can find out how to regularise your position at this link

Even if your score on the entrance knowledge test does not exceed the minimum thresholds set by the degree programme, you can still enrol. However, you will need to complete additional activities known as Additional Formative Obligations (OFAs) within the first year. These activities serve to eliminate the OFA debt assigned.

If the OFAs are not fulfilled by passing the OFA fulfilment test or exam as provided by the competent degree programme, the student will remain enrolled in the first year as a repeating student and will not be able to formalise enrolment in the second year until the OFA debt has been fulfilled.

In order to verify the fulfilment of OFAs and therefore the recovery of debts, the Boards of Studies may provide for two different methods, from which students are free to choose.

Each Study Course Board may decide to use one or more exams of the core subjects of the first year to verify that the student has fulfilled the OFA debt.

The OFA debt is considered extinguished when the student passes the examination in the subjects (or even the partial examinations envisaged as part of individual modules of integrated courses) identified in the subject areas of the OFAs assigned by the Study Course Board, in one of the examination dates.

If the student fails to pass the exam, the Professor in charge of the course may still certify the recovery of the OFA debt, assessing the student's preparation in line with the requirements set out by the Study Course Board for basic knowledge.

To find out which subjects or modules are used by your Degree Programme to verify the recovery of OFA debts, consult the document below relating to the academic year of your enrolment and to the competent department.

UniME administers free OFA tests to check recovery of OFA debt in subjects where the initial test revealed gaps.

Each Study Course Board may use an OFA test to verify recovery in the discipline(s) in which their students have been assigned OFAs, and establish the relevant minimum passing thresholds.

Verification of OFA fulfilment can be carried out through the administration of CISIA OFA Tests, which are provided by CISIA.

Like the TOLCs, CISIA OFA tests are administered online but only in person in UniME computer rooms. The CISIA OFA tests have the same structure and types of questions as the TOLCs (same number of sections and questions, but no English section).

Students must use the appropriate procedure in the reserved area of the ESSE3 website to register for the OFA CISIA Tests.

The registration opening and closing dates and times, along with all the necessary details, will be published on this page as soon as they are available.

Verification of OFA fulfilment can also be carried out by administering OFA tests provided by the department or the Course of Study.

Each Study Course Board establishes the structure of the OFA tests to be administered to its students each academic year, specifying the subject sections to be assessed and the students required to answer them, as well as the minimum passing thresholds, in line with the provisions for assessing entrance knowledge in the admission test (for nationally restricted access Degree Programmes) or the required TOLC (for open and locally restricted access Degree Programmes).

To find out what type of OFA test your study programme is administering, and which test sections are being assessed and what the minimum thresholds are, please consult the document relating to the academic year of enrolment in your first year of study and the department responsible for your study programme.
