
Upon confirmation of registration on ESSE3 by the Secretariat, all students are assigned UniME accounts in the @studenti.unime.it domain.
- Access to ESSE3 can be done with SPID or with 'codice fiscale' username and ESSE3 password. Those who do not yet have the password linked to the 'codice fiscale' username of ESSE3, for example having used SPID for the first access or having forgotten it, can set it with the following procedure: go to Unime ESSE3 Web Services and click on the Menu (upper right icon composed of three horizontal lines), choose 'Forgot Password/Password dimenticata' and follow the instructions.
- For all telematic services offered by UniME (except ESSE3), access is carried out through a unified SSO (Single Sign-On) authentication system with a username in the format codicefiscale@studenti.unime.it.
- The login password for all NON-Microsoft services (Dashboard/Cruscotto, e-Learning, Eduroam-WiFi etc.) is the same as the one used to log in to ESSE3 (see the first point if you need to change or retrieve it); after changing the password on ESSE3, you need to wait a few minutes for the synchronisation with all IT systems to complete.
- The password for access to all services that are part of the Microsoft 365 platform (e-mail on Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.) is specific, different and independent from that of ESSE3. This password must be set for the first access to Microsoft services by following the procedure at Microsoft Account Activation.
For added security of the Microsoft account, the first time you log in you will be asked to register and activate MultiFactor Authentication (MFA) for which a guide and informational videos are available at MFA Activation.
Regarding e-mail, each user has a main address in the form nome.cognome@studenti.unime.it, which is also used as the sender for emails sent. The address codicefiscale@studenti.unime.it is to be used only as a username to access the service, beeing however a valid alternate e-mail address.
Please note that all telematic services can be easily accessed through the UniME Dashboard/Cruscotto.

Credentials for access to UniME telematic services are deactivated when one of these events occurs:
- one month has elapsed since the dropout date, end of Erasmus term, or other career closure event (example: dropout date February 10, 2024 - deactivation March 10, 2024)
- the academic year of graduation or other degree has ended (example: graduation June 2024 - deactivation November 2024)
- for students enrolled in degree programs, teacher training courses, single courses: two years have passed since the end of the calendar year of last enrollment (example: last enrollment a.y. 2023/24 - deactivation January 2026)
- For doctoral and postgraduate students: three years have elapsed since the end of the calendar year of last enrollment (example: last enrolment a.y. 2023/24 - deactivation January 2027)
Please note that the access to ESSE3 will remain active in any case to enable the consultation of the university career and the production of documentation related to it.
